6/5 Day Thirty-Three Of Game Project 2

This blog entry will be written from the day before (since I completely forgot about writing it yesterday) but I will still keep to my usual style of writing.

Today we started off our 8th week with a sprint review meeting with the teachers. They liked what we had done so far but was very concerned about the enemy's behaviour. I asked the programming teacher if he could help us out on that matter, which he agreed to do in the afternoon. They also liked to have seen more art assets in the game as we only have the placeholders for everything, rather than the final models inside the game. They urged us to periodically implement assets into the game rather than throw everything in all at the same time. This way, we will have time to notice any errors that might occur with the models or the game itself.

The programming teacher came down and helped us as he said he would, and gave us a few guidelines and estimates for how long this would take to implement. This gave our programmer responsible for this area to get a clear grasp of what needs to be done, what is the priority and how long each thing would take. He started to work on the first problem today, which is the enemy facing the player. We will see how much we will be able to achieve in a mere week.

I worked on fixing a few problems we had with a particular puzzle room, where the player is able to put enemies into stasis even when they are not supposed to. I also iterated a bit on the fifth puzzle by making it more sensible and playtested all of the puzzles as thoroughly I could to see if there were any serious bugs going on.

My co-designer worked on the final puzzle room to make it work properly and made it more straightforward and easy to comprehend.  The puzzle is done, but since it is very dependent on the enemy working correctly, we might want to have a plan B for it, otherwise, we will have to scrap that room.

I'm starting to feel a little worried about getting the game ready for the final presentation, which is held next week on Friday. It seems some of us will have to work overtime in order to make it, which is regrettable. It will depend a lot on if the enemy can get done in time or not.

That is all I had to share today! Thank you for reading!
