2/5 Day Thirty-One Of Game Project 2
Today we continued on working with the project after returning from a day off due to holidays. Some of us decided to continue working with the game even yesterday, however, to make sure that we keep to the schedule and can focus on polishing and playtesting as soon as possible.
On the morning, we updated everyone on the work we had done and encouraged them to do a playthrough of the game in order to plan ahead and look for any potential errors this new layout would bring. But since we were fairly certain from the beginning that this would not be such a big change to make, we were not surprised when no such things were announced. Everyone is starting to get much calmer about it and we are starting to work very efficiently.
Especially the Artists, who have all turned to make props for the environment and keeps a steady pace doing it. All except the animator who is still polishing some of their animations. He says that he got a few animations added to the game now, which we will be able to see tomorrow.
The programmers have started to deal with the implementations of what is left, and also the most serious bugs that we have in the game. The AI is still behaving strange and merges with the other enemies when they get close, and the programmer responsible for that AI is contemplating on what a good fix would be. We also got some AI elements and music implemented and the enemy is now also able to rotate towards the direction they are going towards. In other words, a very productive day indeed!
However, we are still unsure of how much work is left to do and if next week is enough before we finish everything up. We are therefore considering working some extra working hours tomorrow and over the weekend, as some have shown interest in doing just that, to make sure that the game turns out to how we expect it to.
We are indeed a team consisting of people with extremely high dedication for this project, and it is a shame that there is so little time left as we all feel that we could have done so much more together. Of course, the game that is forming before us now is not by any means a small feat and is instead something we can all stand by and be proud of have been working on.
Tomorrow marks the last day of week 7. The artists will have a meeting to keep track of their progress and the leads and the designers will also have their own meeting regarding the planning for next week.
That is about the long and short of it. I have noticed it is so much easier to write while at home come evening rather than at school after 5. So yeah, expect better blog additions in the days to come!
See you soon!
