13/5 Day Thirty-Eight Of Game Project 2
Today we started off the final week of the project and started it off by showing our progression to the teachers in the morning. Probably for the last time.
On the sprint review, the teachers seemed more than pleased with our progress and had close to no doubt about us making everything ready for the end presentation on Friday. We still have some rooms that need to be built by the artists, some more sounds that needs polish and the AI could still use some improvement. We all seem to be comfortable with the current timespan we got left however and we are all maintaining a healthy amount of stress in order to get all things in order. There has indeed been some worry, mainly considering the changing of some of the rooms, but hopefully this will not turn out to be something major to concern ourselves about.
The artists have had trouble with getting the texture of the avatar look right inside the game and has worked on troubleshooting this problem all day. It has been similar problems with the lights and light baking as well. They will take this up with there teacher tomorrow to see if they have any solutions to these problems. Also, all of the animations have now been polished and updated inside the game and now looks better than ever!
The programmers have struggled with the AI, cleaning up of the code controlling the animations, and also bug fixing, as there are close to nothing left to implement. We still have some bugs left for the programmers to deal with however, so they are not completely out of things to do, though.
I personally did a mockup for the death screen and fixed the timing for the text to show up in the beginning and end of the game, while my co-designer did some building of the collision mesh and also started working on the ending presentation we will hold together on Friday. We have decided that we will start rehearsing tomorrow afternoon, after we have figured out what we want to say. We will also have a rehearsal opportunity with the other presenters on Wednesday, so we will have to be somewhat prepared for that as well.
A little disclaimer; We did not get as much work done as we would have wanted today, but that is just because we got visited by 3 representatives of the Rovio team, who stayed and gave us helpful information by answering questions about various things concerning their company, internships, CV's and the industry in general. In the light of things, the time was definitely not wasted in any way as everyone was happy to spend time with them. You guys were truly awesome, and I hope to see you again soon!
But that is it for today, I think. Thank you for reading!
