5/4 Day Fifteen Of Game Project 2

Today was the final day of week 3 and also the last we have before our presentation on Monday, where we will display our game in its alpha stage. It was a hectic day with a lot of stuff happening at once, which pressured us a bit, but presumably mostly myself.

While my co-designer prepared for the presentation she will hold on Monday morning, I continued to build on the level mockup and another example level that we would use for the presentation. This proved to be too much to do in a day however, as a lot of other things drained away the time. As I noticed this, I decided to focus solely on getting our example level ready as fast as I could. This was not met without their fair share of problems either, as a few major bugs were soon discovered in the scripting file, which complicated matters further. For a series of reasons, these bugs cannot be fixed until Monday, which means that we either have to fix them right before the presentation or find a way to present something else. This is very unfortunate, and quite frankly bad planning from our part, as we did not expect this series of events to unfold on the same day.

A short summary of the problems we faced today: Only one of us designers were familiar with Maya and the scripting for building up the levels, namely me, which left me with two tasks to be done in a day instead of just one. We also got an upgrade to our workstations today, which also meant that we could not work overtime neither today nor over the weekend, which leave us only Monday to work on the bugs. If the computers are all done by then, that is.

I will get to school early on Monday to work out the script the best I can so that we do get something we can present then. Hopefully then, this will not turn into a disaster.
