4/4 Day Fourteen Of Game Project 2

Today was a very busy day for most of us, as we felt the pressure of getting something presentable up for presentation on Monday, which is when we will show our proof of concept for the teachers, and maybe even some other people from outside of school. As a result of this, most of us focused solely on our given task and kept at it throughout the day.

After playtesting out the puzzle aspects of the gameplay yesterday, today I worked solely on building a level mockup, displaying all of the rooms which will be present in the final version of the game. There are still some uncertainties regarding the level design, but getting a solid layout to work from this early on may be very beneficial for us and save our artists a lot of hardships. At the end of the day, I was not able to finish it u completely, but I hope I can finish it tomorrow. If luck has it, we might be able to include the whole mockup level in the presentation. More likely though, we will showcase the one puzzle we have been able to implement thus far.

My co-designer will be the one doing the presenting this time, so she started working on that presentation today. I will instead present the next draft when our game reaches its beta-stage on week 6, while we will present the final draft together, called the golden-stage, on week 9. She also worked on the level design layout to try and determine which room goes where and in what order they will be in. Even though it was only a partial layout, it helped me out a lot with my own work.

Meanwhile, the programmers fixed some bugs, made some miscellaneous implementation and managed to implement all of the mockup animations in the game. They are already falling short of things to do, as most of the vital mechanics required for the game loop is already implemented. Except for one thing: enemies. When they are implemented, they will presumebly suffer a lot of bugs. The programmers also have sound implementations and some more advanced graphical implementations they will have to start working on soon. All of this, on top of fixing all of the bugs we designers will find when we start playtesting the game for real. Meaning, that they will probably not fall short of things to do any time soon.

The artists are nearing their final days of concepting and before moving on to the actual building of the game's visual assets. They have all done tremendous work these past few weeks and it will be exciting to see what they can conjure up.

Tomorrow, we will most likely have another meeting as usual, where the leads will discuss our progress and plan for next week. If time is not on our side though, we will do this on Monday after the presentation instead.

That is all I have for now. Take care!
